About the lab

The VIB-UGent Center for Plant Systems Biology (PSB) is a world-leading plant science institute located in the heart of a Biotechnology campus in Ghent, Belgium. Its mission is to unravel plant biological processes and translate this knowledge into value for society.

The Plant Genome Editing group focuses on developing and implementing large-scale genome editing tools in plants. We use a variety of systems, from standard knockout, to base editing, prime editing and combinatorial CRISPR screens.

Job description

We are looking to recruit a post-doctoral researcher to develop and utilize cell based CRISPR screens to investigate DNA repair genes. The project straddles fundamental research with immediate applications in biotechnology. The project is funded by the Research Foundation- Flanders (FWO).

Responsibilities

  • Vector design and library construction
  • Design large-scale CRISPR screens
  • Plant tissue culture and transformation
  • Amplicon sequencing analysis
  • Grant and manuscript writing
  • Guide students and work with technicians
